UNDERSLUNG GENSET
We are able to equip the Carrier Undermount with a ”Four-Point” mounting system. Upon request we can equip the Undermount genset with a ”Quick-Mount” mounting system. This makes it possible to easily mount the genset underneath a container chassis.

CARRIER 15 KW Undermount Gensets, Carrier Underslung Diesel Gensets, 15 KW powerpacs, air cooled, low hours, designed for quick fitting to nearly all standard ISO chassis trailers. Units are self contained with an integral 50 U.S. gallon (189 liter) fuel tank combined with the engine, generator, battery and all operating controls.

An underslung genset is placed under the chassis of a truck. From this position the generator set provides the reefer unit of a container of electricity continuously.

An underslung generator set is an ideal solution when chilled products must be transported on a trailer on a regular bases. By mounting the generator set on the trailer, only the container needs to be swapped. The generator set can remain in its position on the chassis for future use. Technically, this generator set is similar to a clip-on genset, only the method of mounting is different.

The new PowerLINE Series 55 models use a familiar engine style and a new permanent-magnet generator in a system designed for reliability and simplicity of operation. Recommended for European applications, the Series 55 bears the CE mark, verification that its 18.5 kW engine complies with Europe’s Stage V nonroad mobile machinery emissions standard, which includes low thresholds for carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, particulate matter and nitrogen oxides.

The enhanced PowerLINE units provide uninterrupted power to operate ISO container refrigeration systems when used over land in intermodal applications. At the heart of the new platform is the ultra-high efficiency permanent magnet generator that allows the power drawn from the engine to be reduced by 20%. Common to this new Tier4 PowerLINE platform is the familiar 2.2-liter diesel engine now rated at 18.5 kW.

This engine is based on Carrier’s current engine line, with its well-accepted speed sensor and electronic governor. Providing customers with a familiar, reliable engine means that their personnel do not have to learn operate and deal with complex new engine technology in the field while reaping the operational benefits of our high efficiency compliance platform.
The PowerLINE Tier 4 platform is compliant with U.S. EPA Tier 4. It is also compliant with California Air Resources Board (CARB) standards upon purchase and for seven years thereafter without further modification. After seven years CARB requires further emissions reductions for the engine class (8-19 KW) for units operating in California.

In response, Carrier developed an optional engine emissions system (EES)* for the Tier 4 PowerLINE models, designed to achieve compliance with CARB’s ultra-low diesel emissions standard known as ULETRU. Tier 4 PowerLINE units will need to be fitted with the EES option by the end of the seventh year, if they are to remain in use in California. The option would be available as either a factory or field install option

The PowerLINE® unit contains a 23.9 KW V2203-DI* engine and a 15 kW field wound generator. The engine includes an electronic governor system that provides near-constant engine speed, which results in more stable voltage output. The powerful, reliable; low- maintenance field wound generator produces 460 volts of continuous power and features an internally excited, self-regulated design. All electrical components are enclosed within the generator package and provide superior resistance to moisture and salt.
